Live, Online Adult Education Classes Fall 2016

The Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Phoenix Department of Evangelization and Religious Education is hosting a series of online adult education classes. There will be a series of talks on Tuesdays and standalone courses on some Thursdays. Anyone with a computer, phone or table can attend via online conference technology. See the link below to Register for the event so you can receive connection details and reminders. Courses are completely free! Spread the word, please share with friends, family, regardless if they are Eastern Catholics or not!
 
All adult education classes are taught by the Clergy of the Eparchy of Phoenix, for free through the Fuze online platform. Fuze which is an online webinar system which allows for video and audio sharing on Windows, Mac or ISO devices, or calling in through a toll-free phone. Once you have filled out the online registration form you will receive an email welcome letter. On the day of the class you will receive an email with login information for Fuze. Classes are from 7:00-8:00pm Pacific Timezone (8:00-9:00 Mountain, 10:00-11:00 Eastern). All course will be recorded and posted to this website a few days after each session.

On Holy Mysteries 10/24/2017-12/5/2017 - Kyle Washut
A Study of the Holy Mysteries based on the UGCC, Scripture, and the Fathers of the Church.  While it is a theological introduction, the goal is not only to teach about the theology of the mysteries, but to show what each mystery means in the life of a Christian today.

A theological and psychological examination of marriage in the modern world.

This Semester's Presenters:

Kyle Washut

Kyle Washut is a seminarian for the Eparchy of Phoenix. Having worked on horse, trails, nuclear missile silos, in a coal mine, and as a street performer, he came to Lander, WY to help start Wyoming Catholic College and there served as the inaugural Assistant Dean of Student Life. In 2016, he was the visiting professor of Church History & Patristics for the Byzantine Catholic Seminary of St. Cyril and Methodius in Pittsburgh, PA, and continues to teach online courses for the seminary.  Currently, he has returned to teaching in Wyoming, where he lives with his wife and four children.

 

Deacon Basil Ryan Balke M.A. LPCC

Deacon Basil currently holds licensure as a Professional Counselor Candidate in the State of Colorado and has a Master of Arts degree in counseling from Regis University.  He also has advanced training in marriage and family therapy and has experience working with couples, families, and Groups. He is the founder of Mount Tabor Counseling, a clinical counseling practice in Denver Colorado which specialize in psychotherapy from a Catholic perspective.

In addition, Deacon Basil is a married deacon currently assigned to Holy Protection of the Mother of God Catholic Church in Denver Colorado. He has earned the St. Stephen’s Diploma in Eastern Theology, and is currently pursuing a Masters of Theology in Eastern Christian Theology from the University of Balamand. He is a member of the Eparchy of Pheonix’s Department of Religious Education and Evangelization as well as the Eparchy’s Department of Safe Environment. He live in northern Denver with his Wife and two children. His practice website is www.mounttaborcounseling.com
